Quater four FUN FUN FUN blog post

A. This year, through my work as well as other experiences, I learned the importance of double-checking. I have a tutoring job that is an hour away from home and one time I forgot that the class was cancelled; so after an hour long commute, I had to immediately turn around and spend another hour of my time going back. If I had double-checked with my student fist then I wouldn't have wasted two hours for nothing. Another time, I was at the airport, checking in, and I realised I had left my wallet at home. Fortunately, I had noticed early enough to ask someone to bring my wallet to me. However, if I had double-checked and made sure that I had everything before I left the house then extra taxi money would not have needed to be spent and I would have been less stressed. In conclusion, double-checking can save you time, money, and a whole lot of worry.

B. If I could only give one piece of advice for my fellow classmates, I would tell them to have a “Do it now” attitude. It is only easy to say you don't have time for your work when you fail to notice the true vastness of time. There are 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes an hour, 24 hours a day, and 365 days a year. That adds up to a whopping 31,536,000 seconds a year! In other words, everyone has enough time, you just need to use it. With a "Do it now!" attitude you could be more efficient and productive than you had ever imagined.

C. This summer I plan to go to Texas with my dad. The main reason for going is to get my American citizenship and passport, but we are also going to see my relatives and have fun. We plan on visiting NASA and eating Texas BBQ. In addition to that, I'm sure there will be many impromptu adventures.

My Persuasive Essay

Does gym help students perform better in all their classes?
I want to start by making clear what I mean by gym. When I say gym, I am speaking of both the physical education class in one's school and one’s personal devotion to working out on their own time. Now, everyone can agree that general exercise is a healthy practice. However, the fact that gym can help someone do better in all their classes is less known aphorism. According to the Times article "For Fitness, Push Yourself," when you have a higher fitness level you have more energy and your mind is more active. You are also at a higher capacity to learn new things. In addition to that, your body has more energy, which significantly reduces the likelihood of you sleeping in class; thereby increasing your grade and allowing for more active learning.
Experts in the fitness community will agree that getting fit is not just a pastime, but a way of life. Students who regularly go to the gym are more inclined to push the limits, break boundaries, and excel in life and school. I have a friend who was quite chubby as a kid and he wasn't really that energetic or motivated. But after he started on his path through intense exercise, he found that he had twice the energy and motivation of earlier body and mind. He is now excelling in college and having the time of his life.
In conclusion, gym not only helps students perform better in all their classes, but also in their day-to-day life. It gives them the motivation needed to wake up with a purpose and walk hard in life, stopping at nothing to conquer any challenge that blocks their path. They are a true breed of strong-willed, determined persisters.

UK lawmakers have recently approved "3 parent babies" law. I personally support the law, in principle, but like Rev. Dr. Brendon McCarthy said, "...the law should not be changed until there has been further scientific study and informed debate into the ethics, safety and efficacy of mitochondrial replacement therapy." I appreciate the noble intentions of the scientists and other supporters of this therapy, but I would advise everyone to hold their horses and fully examine every aspect of this therapy before going any further.

We recently read a couple of very short poems by William Carlos Williams that were both entertaining and full of imagery. They were also somewhat thought provoking. What I liked most about them was their ability to leave a significant impression with just a small number of words. In fact, I found inspiration in these poems when my teacher asked me to write a poem. The poem I wrote is below.

Getting Cold
by Alvyn Berg

Two days
It's been,

She promised me.

You should never trust a cat.

If you're visiting Taiwan and you have already been to the first go-to places in Taipei, then the next place I would recommend is Kenting. Kenting is located at the bottom tip of Taiwan, just below PingTung.
What makes Kenting so great is its beach oriented culture, beautiful scenery including verdant hiking trails and people in bikinis, mouthwatering street food and delectable restaurant food, satisfying hotels, convivial camping (if that's your thing), heart-pumping go-cart racing, divine sunrises, and of course, sunny, soft-sand beaches.
So what are you waiting for? Go on down and enjoy the vacation you deserve. Kenting is waiting for you. (ps: I can guarantee the second picture is from Kenting because I took it.)

Reading and Success

We recently read one of my favorite poems ever, The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe. With ingenious rhymes and invigorating suspense, it is hard not to get goose bumps and fall in love with this poem. I believe this is a truly iconic piece of poetry that will be regarded as a masterpiece for years to come.

Success, to me, is doing the things that mean the most to me. It's being able to live a life where I can work, learn, and relax in the perfect amount of time. It's when I make enough money that the money starts making money for me. And in all that, I still don't forget who I really am. That is success.

The Art of Exceptional Living by Jim Rohn influenced me greatly. I was awestruck by the simplicity of his recipe for success; a few small disciplines practiced every day. What's frightening is that the recipe for failure is equally simple; a few errors in judgment made every day. It only takes a minute to realize that your life has numerous small errors in judgment and that, with time, the consequences of these errors can blow-up in titanic proportions. So after some contemplation, I have resolved to make that my philosophy as well. In this, I hope to achieve more and reach greater heights. In this, I will succeed.

Dr. Heidegger's Experiment, School of Interest, and Ivy

I like Dr. Heidegger's Experiment for several reasons. The first being that the story is about the magical liquid from the fountain of youth. I have always found the fountain of youth interesting and I think Nathaniel Hawthorne represented it well. The second reason I like Dr. Heidegger's Experiment is that the story has a good amount of suspense and that helps readers to stay interested in the plot. The third and final reason I like the story is that the N. Hawthorn makes great use of imagery and that makes the story enjoyable.

I'm interested in the Indiana University of Pennsylvania because it has a nice campus and it looks good. The weather there is also quite pleasant most of the time. In addition to that, the majority people there are nice.

One Ivy school that looks good is the University of Pennsylvania. It was founded by Benjamin Franklin and is ranked #8 on the National Universities Rankings in a report by U.S. News.

Lyrics to "Teach Your Children" by Alvyn Berg

Here are the lyrics to the song I wrote for my Literature class. Enjoy :)

(to the tune of The Moon represents my Heart by Teresa Teng)

Teach your children, please teach them well,
Teach your, your children well.
Or they will not fare
In the world out there,
Oh please teach your children well.

Teach your children, please teach them well,
Don't send your kids to hell.
They won't like it there,
It's full of despair,
Please don't send your kids to hell.

מייַן ערשטער פּאָסטן

Dear citizens of the United Blogs of Blogger,

This post is first and foremost for the satisfaction of my American Literature teacher, The Great Catsby, for he is the one who assigned this assignment to me and my fellow classmates.

Anyway, on to the assignment.

1. We are now in the African Slave-Trade part of our textbook; therefore I have found a website that is related to that topic. It's about a first-hand account of being on one of the horrid slave ships. The website URL is: http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/slaveship.htm

2. Although I haven't confirmed what experiment I will be doing for Science Fair, I have an idea of what I might do. I plan to do something related to the refraction of light in water. Here is a website that's related to that: http://www.physicsclassroom.com/class/refrn/Lesson-1/Refraction-and-Sight

3. I like things that go and cars do a great job at that. I also really enjoy racing and since I don't have enough money to and/or the right contacts yet, I have to rely on virtual racing. Here is a website that's related to that interest of mine: http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/

That is all for now, my good citizens.

Peace.
